Frank Stephenson One-Off Auction

27 Jul 2020

Frank Stephenson Design is delighted to announce the auctioning of original design sketches from the popular "How I Designed...?" YouTube series with proceeds in aid of Harrison's Fund - a not-for-profit charity raising funds in the effort to find a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

Frank will announce the auction during a live Q&A session hosted on his official YouTube Channel on 29th July, offering fans a unique opportunity to ask questions about the design of their favourite cars.

"I'm delighted with how well the videos have been received. It's been great to share the stories behind some of the viewers favourite cars and, hopefully, bring a bit of happiness to them in what has been a challenging lockdown period. All I would say is keep your eyes peeled on the channel for our next set of videos!" said Frank Stephenson.

In advance of the Live Q&A, the seventh and final video from the series will be broadcast seeing Frank unpick the story behind the design of the McLaren P1.

Launching only in March of this year, the Frank Stephenson Official YouTube has already amassed over 33,000 subscribers and 700,000 accumulated views, growing daily to bring Frank ever closer to car enthusiasts around the globe.

Following the live season finale, the sketches from all seven videos will be auctioned for charity with profits being donated to Harrison's Fund.

Harrison's Fund was founded by Alex Smith after his now 13-year-old son, Harrison, was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy in 2011 and he became aware that there is no cure for the condition. Duchenne is a rare, fatal degenerative genetic disease affecting children across the world which results in every muscle in the body eventually shutting down.

The auction begins on August 1st lasting two weeks until August 14th, giving fans the opportunity to purchase one-off-one artwork whilst raising money for a brilliant cause.

Supporting the charity auction is television personality, and one half of the hit show "Wheeler Dealers", Ant Anstead, who is also a patron for Harrison's Fund. Frank & Ant will be speaking about all thing's cars and the charity auction on a special Instagram Live hosted on Ant's Instagram Channel on August 9th.

On the Charity Auction, Frank added: "Harrison's Fund is something that I care very dearly about and the work that they are doing to raise funds to cure Duchene Muscular Dystrophy is outstanding. I was made aware of the charity by a friend of mine and to be able to help them in any way possible means a lot to me. We received a lot of messages from the YouTube videos asking if the sketches were going to be put up for sale and we thought, what a great opportunity to raise some money for this excellent cause."

Alex Smith, Founder, Harrison's Fund, said: "This is a very special project for the charity to be involved in as my Grandpa was the Founder of Matchbox Toys and cars are something that me and both my boys love and find great joy in. As a child with Duchenne so much of your childhood is taken away from you with not being able to partake in normal childhood activities but playing with cars is something that they can still enjoy regardless of their condition and Harrison in particular has loved visiting the UK classic car shows with our Patron Ant Anstead.

"The support from Frank has come at a vital time for our charity and is much welcomed. The impact of Covid-19 on our funding is still vast and we have worked hard over the last few months to create a sustainable future for the charity and ensure we can continue to fund our research and support families with Duchenne at a time when they need it more than ever."
