Harrison's Fund goes back to school
13 Mar 2019
We are delighted to announce the Aldro School in Shackleford have chosen us to be their charity of the year for 2019! We were selected by the School Council after a rigorous voting process saying that our cause seemed "the most moving". Of course, we agree with them and are thrilled with their decision!
Our Campaigns and Community Fundraising Executive, Luci attended Aldro on 6th March and gave a presentation to the boys in their assembly. She spoke about exactly what Duchenne is and how Harrison's Fund is there at the forefront of research, striving for that cure. The motivated pupils asked many questions ranging from what scientists are doing to help, to how Harrison's life is affected by Duchenne. The boys certainly seemed inspired to help and were left brimming with ideas about how to fundraise over the year. The school council will be creating a plan of events over the year and we cannot wait to see what they come up with!
Aldro have already started their fundraising in earnest, beginning events with a Quiz Night that raised over £1200 alone and a mufti day planned for later in the week. There are also exciting plans to take on some ambitious challenges in our name, including a mammoth walk over Hadrian's Wall for scholarship pupils and much more in the offing!
We would like to thank Aldro for their wonderfully warm welcome on our visit and look forward to working with this inspiring school over the course of the year.
