Vitality 10K Challenge Completed!

25 Jun 2018

Andrea Petrie, 42, from Epsom took part in this year's Vitality London 10,000 – a 10k race through the streets of London on May 28th - for Harrison's Fund, and got to meet Olympic stars Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill and Lord Sebastian Coe in the process.

Andrea said: "I met Klara Taussig in June 2014; just a few days after the birth of our son Casper. It was a day that changed both our lives – Klara found out her son had Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and I vowed to do what I could to raise money for the charity she and her husband, Nick, support. Despite meeting Klara only a few times a year, her family has had a massive impact on my life and I have volunteered at the charity's events and also organised various cake sales and fundraisers in order to raise as much as possible. This year I felt it was the right time to step up the challenge and not just do my personal best but also do my best for all the boys and girls out there suffering from this nasty disease."

Andrea is a Senior Compliance Manager at Vitality and entered a work competition for a free place and the chance to meet Vitality ambassador, Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill, in the hospitality tent.

She added: "The run was fantastic even though it was very hot. I ran the full 10km in just 69 minutes, without stopping, which to me was quite an achievement as only seven weeks prior to the race I could not run longer than one minute! It was a very special day, not only because I got to meet Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill and Lord Sebastian Coe, but also just crossing that finish line, thinking about what I achieved, and what an important cause I had raised money for made it so memorable."

Andrea has raised £600 to date and we're so grateful for her wondering support! Better still, Andrea is keen to run again for Harrison's Fund - she's got the running bug now!
