150 Sessions of Expert Clinical Psychology Thanks to You

At Harrison’s Fund, we believe that mental health care is just as important as physical care for those living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). That’s why we are incredibly proud to share a huge milestone: we have now funded 150 sessions of clinical psychology through the Chrysalis Grants programme.

This achievement is only possible thanks to the unwavering support of our incredible fundraisers and grant givers. Your generosity has allowed us to provide vital psychological support to boys and young men with Duchenne, their families and newly diagnosed parents, helping them navigate the emotional challenges of living with a progressive condition.

Mental health support is often overlooked in the Duchenne community, yet it is crucial. Families face immense stress, anxiety, and emotional strain, and without access to specialist psychological care, many would be left to cope alone. Through the Chrysalis Grants, we have been able to fill this gap, ensuring that more families receive the help they need.

Every fundraiser, every donation, and every grant has played a part in reaching this incredible landmark. Whether you have run a marathon, hosted an event, or made a personal contribution, your support has directly impacted the lives of those affected by Duchenne.

But this is just the beginning. The demand for clinical psychology support continues to grow, and we need your help to keep making a difference. With your continued support, we can fund even more sessions, providing a lifeline for families who need it most, just like our patient testimonial below...

"When my son was diagnosed in November 2023 I felt like my whole world had been turned on its head, I hated everyone and everything. I was so resentful of everyone making plans for their child’s future thinking everything I had planned for my child now wouldn’t happen. I blamed myself for his diagnosis. I started having therapy sessions and after my first session I was abit like this is silly I don’t need therapy but I pushed on and had more sessions and I honestly can’t thank Harrison’s Fund enough for giving me the opportunity to have therapy sessions because they opened my eyes to a different way of thinking and also dealing with things. I have since been able to approach our situation head on with a different viewpoint."

Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey so far. Let’s keep going—because mental health matters, and together, we can make sure no family faces Duchenne alone.

If you’d like to support our work, please consider donating today. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps us fund another crucial session of mental health care.
