Fundraiser Story: Dan Nathan’s Challenge for Harrison’s Fund

At Harrison's Fund, we are always inspired by the incredible efforts of our supporters. Dan Nathan is one of those individuals, and he’s taking on a huge challenge this year to raise funds for the charity and its vital work. Dan is running three marathons (in Paris, Stockholm, and Cannes), along with several half-marathons and 10k events, to raise awareness and funds for Harrison’s Fund, the UK’s first charity specifically focused on the mental health needs of families affected by Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD).

Why Harrison’s Fund?

Dan’s connection to this cause is deeply personal. In September, while staying with close friends Sara and Peter in London, he met documentary filmmaker Nick Taussig. Nick’s story struck a powerful chord with Dan, as both grew up a few hundred meters from each other, are of a similar age, and are both fathers of two children. What made their connection even more significant, however, is that Nick’s two sons both have a Duchenne diagnosis.

Nick’s moving documentary, A Space in Time, covers the emotional struggles that families face when dealing with this diagnosis. Dan describes it as an eye-opening experience, urging others to watch it and gain a deeper understanding of the challenges that come with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. “You might not get through the whole film without tears, but the reason why I’m raising money will become very clear,” Dan shared.

The Running Challenge

Dan is going the extra mile — literally — to support Harrison’s Fund. He’s taking on the challenge of running three full marathons across Europe: Paris, Stockholm, and Cannes. In addition to these, he’s also participating in several half-marathons and 10k events throughout the year.

“I knew I had to do something. Running for this cause gives me a chance to contribute, to raise awareness, and to honor the families who are living through the reality of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy every day. The physical challenge is tough, but it's nothing compared to what these families face,” Dan said.
